"A romantic backdrop of the rolling pacific ocean, vast windswept beaches and ancient forests sets the stage for a back to nature wedding surrounded by rustic elegance."
There's something about Tofino, the marriage between ancient forests, windswept beaches and nature's elements that creates the perfect romantic setting for weddings. Situated on Vancouver Island's magnificently rugged west coast, the Wickaninnish Inn is surrounded by the Pacific Ocean on three sides with an old grown forest as the backdrop.

There’s a choice of two ceremony venues on offer suitable for both small ceremonies or for larger wedding parties and both are available for civil ceremonies and blessings. For those looking for a more informal affair a ceremony on the resorts white sand beach held under an arch of tropical flowers may be the perfect setting. And for those who prefer to keep the sand out of their toes, then the ornate Thai-style outdoor sala with cool marble floors and views across the bay may suite a more formal approach. Whichever ceremony location chosen, the resorts experienced events team will work with you at every step on even the smallest details to ensure your dream is envisaged.
Host a show stopping cocktail reception and dinner in the Presidential Hideaway Pool Villa. This substantial 3-bedroom private villa leads out onto the beach, with panoramic sea views, infinity-edged pool with spacious deck and dining room that can seat up to 50 guests. The relaxed beachside Oyster & Seafood Grill and elegant PanAsia Restaurant offer both International and Asian a la carte and buffet menus with the option of hiring either restaurant exclusively. Other settings include dinning al fresco in the resorts landscaped gardens overlooking the beach or in the shady Thai style sala. A late night party can be hosted at the beach bar, fly in your own DJ or live band or choose from a selection made available by the resorts events team. Make a wish as you set off Thai lanterns on the beach and relax around campfires with your nearest and dearest…the options are endless.
50 Thatched private villas adorned with sun-bleached wood and natural materials are scattered amongst the tropical gardens connected by winding sandy pathways. All rooms come with outdoor bathrooms, spacious garden with day sala’s for those afternoon snoozes, BOSE surround sound and entertainment systems and private butler to ensure a restful stay. For the happy couple we recommend booking a Beach Access Pool Villa with its romantic vaulted ceilings, canopied bed, outdoor soaking tub, steam room and private pool with sea views.
Situated in the heart of the west coast temperate rainforest, the weather and surrounding natural environment offers the most moderate climate in Canada. Summer months during Jul-Aug are typically dry and warm, with the autumn bringing increased rainfall and the first of the big storms that the west coast is well known for. The Wickaninnish Inn is a particularly good position to watch the dramatic ocean storms with towering 25 foot waves crashing along the shore line. The spring begins in early March with the first blossoms, warmer temperatures and arrival of the Grey Whales.
St. Columba Anglican Church and St Francis Assisi Catholic Church are both located 5km away.
The hotel welcomes all denominations to conduct ceremonies onsite. They do ask for the couple to arrange for their own priest and can advise those available nearby if needed.
Exclusive venue hire of the entire hotel is available based on a minimum 3 night hire during Jan-Jun & Sep-Dec or minimum 4 nights hire during Jul-Aug.

In British Columbia, couples can choose a religious or civil ceremony, which must be witnessed by two people. To arrange a religious ceremony, you can choose a religious representative who must be registered with the Vital Statistics Agency, under the Marriage Act. Civil ceremonies are performed by Marriage Commissioners, who are private citizens appointed by the Chief Executive Officer of the Vital Statistics Agency.
If you plan to have a civil ceremony, contact and book a Marriage Commissioner as soon as possible once, you have established your wedding date. Make sure you provide the necessary information that will allow the Marriage Commissioner to determine their availability and calculate an accurate estimate of the required fees. Some of the areas you will need to consider include the date and time of your wedding ceremony, the location, number of guests and people in the wedding party plus any special wardrobe or other requests.
The Marriage Commissioner or religious representative who performed the wedding ceremony will help you complete the Marriage Registration Form. Within 48 hours of the wedding ceremony, the form will be sent by the Marriage Commissioner or religious representative to the Vital Statistics Agency, where the marriage will be registered and a legal record kept.
