Lying languidly in the valley of the Ayung River, The Royal Pita Maha is a hidden postage stamp of paradise. Located on the outer periphery of the bustling village of Ubud this is an exotic wedding venue with perfect privacy. Within the grounds of the resort you will feel like Balinese royalty as you admire the indigenous landscape of rice paddies and palms; whilst a journey into the village itself will fill you with an air of mischievousness and freedom: akin with the monkeys that you are bound to encounter in the surrounding ancient temples.
The grounds of the Royal Pita Maha bloom with flawless natural beauty. Think Jungle Book meets Harvey Nichols as you host a wedding of rural charm and impeccable class. Verdant vistas are punctuated with thatched roofs and dramatic cliff sides, an enchanting fairytale where Tarzan can sweep Jane off her feet.
Take that fairytale feeling one step further with a Cinderella style marriage in The Royal Pita Maha’s glass wedding chapel. Alternatively the Ayung River Gazebo or Royal Convention House could be the perfect place for you and your prince/princess to say ‘I do’. The hotel offers a range of Indonesian traditions such as a wood carved ring plate, tropical archway and a Balinese flower girl: charming touches to authenticate your special day.
Choose from a range of wedding packages which offer delights such as Gamelan musicians, frangipani and rose confetti and a four course set dinner. For a change of scene (not that you will need it) the hotel restaurant is a captivating car journey away where moonlit cocktails, local delicacies and breathtaking views can all provide a seamless transition from day to night.
Each villa at The Royal Pita Maha benefits from a private pool area to ensure that you and your wedding party will only ever be a short dive away from total tranquillity. Quintessentially Balinese activities including traditional dancing, painting and wood carving all allow guests to embrace native customs; whilst trekking, cycling and rafting are on offer for those who prefer more energetic pursuits.
Bali’s tropical climate means average temperatures around 30 degrees Celsius year round. April to October is the dry season and arguably the best time to visit in terms of weather; these months see less rain, lower humidity and gentle breezes in the evening. June to August are Bali’s peak months in terms of tourist arrivals and weather, bringing traditionally the lowest rainfall and the warmest weather. November to March is labeled as the rainy season with the wettest months usually experienced during December and January. During these months, the weather is still hot but humidity can be very high.
The Royal Pita Maha wedding chapel allows Christian ceremonies.
Additional ceremonies carried out at the venue are Buddhist and Hindu.
Many couples who decide to hold their wedding ceremony in Bali actually undertake their legal wedding in their home country in order to avoid the more complicated paperwork and extra work associated with arranging a legal marriage in Bali. The ceremony they have in Bali will instead by a non-legally binding blessing.
However it is possible to legally wed in Bali which will involve holding both the religious and civil ceremonies on the same day (however civil registry officials can be performed directly at the religious ceremony for an additional fee). Amongst the various conditions under the Republic of Indonesia's marriage laws the couple must hold the same religion and faiths that are recognised are Islamic, Hindu, Buddhist, Christian-Protestant and Christian-Catholic.
A Notice of Intention to Marry has to be submitted with documents such as certificate of religious marriage, passport, birth certificate, four 4x6cm photos, certified divorce decree, letter of no impediment to marriage issued by your consular representative for Bali or Indonesia.
We always recommend hiring the services of a reputable local wedding company to assist with any legal documents to ensure no issues arise on the day.
